August was one of those months that just flew by… I can’t believe we are in to September already! Summer is fading away and I must say I have already started to think about… dare I say it… Christmas!
But before all that, as always, I want to share with you some favourites from this past month.
August Favourite Events/Activities
- London and Legoland trip
My son and I went down to London for 4 days for a lovely little holiday together exploring Madame Tussuads, Buckingham Palace and of course Legoland. This was definitely our most expensive and tiring four days of August but also so much fun.
- Banchory beer festival
I was invited to attend the festival by the event organisers in exchange for a review… Does that make me a real blogger now?! I had also got myself on the VIP blogger guest list for a new nightclub opening this month, however I unfortunately ended up unavailable that night. It is nice to see blogger opportunities coming in though. My son and I attended the family day of Banchory beer festival and enjoyed it. (read my full review)
There has been some fantastic new film releases lately and we ended up at the cinema 3 times this month! We saw; Hotel Transylvania 3, Ant Man and the wasp, and Christopher Robin. My son and I’s favourite was Ant Man 2… I had been looking forward to this film coming out as I loved the first one. It’s a great mix of superhero action (with a down to earth hero) and humour. Paul Rudd is fantastic as the likeable Ant-Man.
Christopher Robin was a cute, nostalgic and heart warming film. As a child I loved Winnie the Pooh so it was lovely to see the popular characters revisited. I feel that perhaps they could have done more with the storyline but the level of cuteness outweighed this. Hotel Transylvania 3 was okay, my son enjoyed it but it wasn’t one of my favourites to be honest.
- Celebrate Aberdeen
My work (dates-n-mates) took part in a local third sector parade to celebrate all the fantastic work being done by local charities. The organisers arrange a large banner for each charity to proudly show off your logo during the parade and large crowds gather to watch and support. It’s so amazing to see all the people that are doing good charitable work in Aberdeen come together like this (over 120 organisations took part!) My son joined me, my colleagues and project members in the parade with his large monkey head on and loved it!
- Tony Macaroni dinner with friends
I had my first visit to Tony Macaroni which has recently opened in Aberdeen while catching up with most of the girls in the old Uni group. After leaving University a few years ago there is 10 of us who try our best to all get together when we can to catch up and they are often some of my favourite evenings out. 8 of us made it to this one! We had dinner at Tony Macaroni followed by bowling at Lane 7. The restaurant has a very stylish interior and large varied menu – I opted for a pasta dish which I couldn’t quite pronounce (Rigatoni Amatriciana) at £10.50. The pasta was really nice but I didn’t taste any hints of the chilli it was meant to have in it.. I’d have liked a bit more of a kick to it personally.
Also this month we saw family and got back to the school routine. It is crazy my son is now in to his 5th year at primary school… He’s growing up too fast! He started guitar lessons this term at school too so I’m looking forward to hearing his progress over the coming months.
How was your August? 💕
