International Day of Friendship: Part two

As today is International Day of Friendship I am celebrating all things friendship with two posts sharing bloggers views on what friendship means to them.

You can read part one here. In this post I will share 4 more interviews with bloggers and also include my answers to the questions too.

Part of my job involves helping people with learning disabilities form friendships & socialise and it is definitely rewarding and lovely to see new friendships develop. We all need people we can talk to, laugh with and share happy memories with.

I have loved reading everyone’s views for these posts – friendship brings so much happiness to all of our lives. Thank you to all the bloggers featured for sharing their stories with us.

What does friendship mean to you and how important is friendship to your personal happiness?

I think friendship is vital to personal happiness because if you have a toxic friendship in your life it can truly drag you down and a great friendship should be about bringing each other up and having someone you can always go to no matter how you feel and be put in a better place instantly. Friendship means the world to me, having positive and supportive people around me is so great and to have someone to laugh, cry and live life without judgement with is just the best. I think it’s better to have a small amount of close friends you can rely on and trust implicitly around you than a large amount of friends that wouldn’t have your back should you need them to.

What is your favourite social activity to do with your friends?

I love going for casual dinners and drinks for a catch up, I love getting all done up and dancing the night away to our favourite tunes. I don’t have one favourite activity to do with friends as I love experiencing new adventures. I’m lucky that through the blog I get to attend a lot of launches and cover events in London and can usually take a friend with me so we get to try new things.

What are the 3 top qualities you want in a friend?

Loyal, Supportive and Trustworthy

Do you have a message for one (or all) of your friends that you would like to share?

Friendship is a special gift and when I think over the times I’ve had tears running down my face, belly in pain from laughing thinking back over the memories I have made with my friends I just think of how lucky I am to have them in my life. I cherish all the good memories I have with people, even those I no longer speak to or see, as they’ve shaped who I am today. I’m so grateful to the friends that have stop by me through the good and the bad and I look forward to making loads more great memories together.

What does friendship mean to you and how important is friendship to your personal happiness?

Friendship is very important to me, especially whilst I am away at university and do not have my family close to me. I consider my closest friends to be family so knowing that they are there to love and support me is a great boost. I would say that friendship is quite important to my personal happiness as I am quite a sociable person, I love spending time with other people and so spend a lot of time with my friends.

What is your favourite social activity to do with your friends?

This can be anything but mainly it’s nice to just meet up, whether it be at a bar or a coffee shop and have a good catch up, it’s easy to get caught up in our own lives sometimes it’s nice to know what’s going on in other people’s. I have to say though, if I am at home there is nothing better than a relaxing stroll along the beach

What are the 3 top qualities you want in a friend?

Honesty, Trust and Understanding.

Do you have a message for one (or all) of your friends that you would like to share

I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my friends, especially those at home who I can’t see as often as I would like whilst at university. Just because I may not be around all the time doesn’t mean I don’t care for you and miss you a great deal, it makes me treasure the time we can spend together.

What does friendship mean to you and how important is friendship to your personal happiness?

To me friendship means supporting and encouraging your friends to be the best they can be, it means being there for them when they are down or are experiencing hard times and it means creating positive memories that you both/all share in the future. To me friendship is important to my personal happiness rather a lot as this positive aspect in my life has gotten me through times I was down and has taught me how to bond with different people.

What is your favourite social activity to do with your friends?

I personally love going out for drinks or a meal with my friends, to just relax and have fun together while chatting is the perfect thing!

What are the 3 top qualities you want in a friend?

Loyalty, kindness and honesty: I want a friend who will be there for me when I need it, offer a kind hand to keep me smiling but will also tell me their honest opinions of me

Do you have a message for one (or all) of your friends that you would like to share?

To my best female friend Jess: we’ve had some crazy times in the last 5 or so years, we haven’t always kept in touch due to life but we’ve had plenty to say when we have the time! I really cherish your friendship and respect how strong you are.

What does friendship mean to you and how important is friendship to your personal happiness?

Friendship to me is about mutual trust and support throughout all the good and the bad aspects in life. It is easy to be a friend when times are good, but the real friends are those who support and motivate you throughout tough times. I think friendship is fairly important to everyone’s personal happiness, but of course happiness does not have to depend on friendship. Having real friends that care about you and guide you through tough times, just like you do for them, are extremely important to me personally. I have four people that I would consider my close friends and I cannot imagine my life without them. We might not talk every day, but I know we can always count on each other through the good and the bad.

What is your favourite social activity to do with your friends?

It’s not very social but watching films (such as High School Musical, Mean Girls and Harry Potter) and eating pizza (preferably Domino’s in the UK or Steffani’s in Estonia) with a couple of cocktails is my favourite. Nothing better than good food, good films and good company!

What are the 3 top qualities you want in a friend?

My friends are all honest, kind and hilarious. You need honesty to be able to trust each other and I honestly couldn’t get along with someone who didn’t make me laugh (and vice versa).

Do you have a message for one (or all) of your friends that you would like to share?

Dear friends, I miss you all so much. To the ones in Estonia, I will be back in September and I will squish you so hard and we will definitely have some movie nights with way too much pizza. To the ones in the UK, I will see you as soon as my assignments are done because I honestly cannot believe I haven’t seen you in so long (you will also be squished, be prepared). To all of you, you’re all beautiful, kind, generous and way more amazing than you think you are. I love you all lots and lots.

What does friendship mean to you and how important is friendship to your personal happiness?

Friendship to me is mutual respect and support for one another, it’s caring for someone and wanting them in your life. It is also fun and happiness, it’s laughing and sharing the good times (and helping through the bad times). Friendship is an important part of anyone’s happiness, as is family and when you have those friends who become like family or those family members who also feel like friends… That is a special person you should treasure!

What is your favourite social activity to do with your friends?

Chatting and having a laugh over food and/or drinks whether that be at someone’s house or out and about.. Or checking out a local event. Just having a nice time catching up with each other.

What are the 3 top qualities you want in a friend?

Caring, fun and loyal. Someone who makes me feel comfortable to be myself around them always.

Do you have a message for one (or all) of your friends that you would like to share?

I would say even though you may not always see me on a regular basis, I am still here… Hi! I really do appreciate those friends who stick around and no matter how long we go without seeing each other it’s always lovely and familiar when we get to catch up. Let’s go have a new adventure together soon! 💕
