Banchory Beer Festival August 2018

In two weeks time the fantastic Banchory Beer Festival returns to Aberdeenshire… celebrating its 5th year of Beer @ the Barns and Summer festivals.
I was hoping to go to this years Beer @ the Barn event in February as my works project members attended however, unfortunately I was unable to attend. I heard some fantastic things about the event though so since then I have kept my eye out for the summer festival. Well here it comes…

The Event:

Over-18 only events Friday 10th (5:30pm – 12am) and Saturday 11th (12pm – 12am)

Followed by a family friendly day on Sunday 12th (12pm – 7pm)

So what can you expect at this years summer event?

As their website states “it’s 3 days of awesome drinks, music and street food”

Drinks:

There will be a wide selection of drinks available at the festival this year… including Beer, of course! Think… Fierce Beer Co, Six Degrees North Brewery, Burnside Brewery and so many more!

Gin – only Scottish distilled and bottled Gins, lovely local drinks!

Other drinks include – Rum, Cider and Prosecco for anyone wanting some fancy bubbles! I think I might grab myself a Prosecco when I go!

Keep an eye out on the Banchory Beer Festival Facebook page as they release their drinks list shortly.

Soft drinks and water also available.

Food:

If you attend this years Banchory Beer Festival you will be in for a foodie treat!

Pizza Geeks – who doesn’t love a wood fired pizza in the sunshine this summer?!

Screaming Peacock – can we just take a moment to appreciate how cool their name is? High quality venison and pheasant burgers anyone? Now that’s something a little special isn’t it… Worth attending the festival just to check these guys out!

Shri Bheemas – this place has some lovely authentic Indian food which I have had in the past and they certainly get my seal of approval!

Music:

There will be a fantastic line up of live music each day with confirmed acts including:

Friday:

Starsky – guaranteed to get everyone dancing which is exactly what you need on a Friday night.

Full Fat – Alternative Blues Trio who won ‘the best of the rest’ fudge award in 2017 so you know they’ll be good!

Saturday:

Have mercy Las Vegas – This band have played many Scottish Festivals including Belladrum and will play on both the Saturday and Sunday.

The Carloways – An Americana/Rock n Roll band from Perthshire

Sunday:

Land and Sea – Acoustic duo

The Jig Splitters – A rock/pop ceilidh fusion band from the North East of Scotland.

Family Fun:

As a Mum myself who loves attending events it’s such a shame when some festivals are over-18 only and you can’t get childcare… Fear not, Banchory Beer Festival has thought of this… Sunday’s event is a family friendly day. With activities such as face painting, magicians and bouncy castles alongside the food, drinks and music there is something for all the family!  The Magician Dean Spruce is fantastic – my work recently hired him for our Anniversary party and he went down a treat!

Portsoy Ice Cream will be providing some delicious ice cream and sorbets –so you can definitely keep the kids and yourself well fed throughout the day!

I will be attending the Sunday event this year with my son and can’t wait to see what fun we have!

Travel & Access:

The festival encourages everyone to travel by bus as they have formed strong links with local bus company, Stagecoach, putting on extra busses for festival goers. You can however travel by car too.

The festival organisers have confirmed that the event is wheelchair accessible.
