The Body Shop – Aberdeen Blogger Event

On Friday 1st of June, I attended my first blogger event – only 3 weeks after starting my blog. The Body shop in the Aberdeen St Nicholas Centre kindly hosted the event exclusively for Aberdeen Bloggers.

The Event

The evening started with everyone being given a basket, a goodie bag and a glass of bubbles! I love an event that offers a free glass of fizz so that was me happy already! Staff then explained the offers in place for the evening and pointed out their new product range – Body Yoghurts and Facial Mists. They gave us time to explore the shop’s wide range of beauty and skincare products, while being on hand to offer advice, skin consultations and hand massages!

The new Body Yoghurts caught my eye, they are fast absorbing and come in 5 delicious scents. As they are 100% vegan, they contain almond milk… unfortunately for me with a nut allergy anything with almonds or peanuts is a no-go as they would just irritate my skin… Gutted! I discussed this allergy with one of the lovely staff members and mentioned that I was on the lookout for a good hand cream. She kindly made some recommendations which I was able to try a sample of. It’s great that the Body Shop staff are really friendly and knowledgable about the products so are able to listen to your needs and make the best recommendations. I wouldn’t hesitate to ask for advice in store again in the future.

After browsing some products… and smelling them all – oh my gosh how delicious are all the scents in the Body Shop! I was like a kid in a sweet shop, I wanted everything! I just had to get one of the hand and arm massages with the Brazilian Cupuacu scrub-in-oil from the Spa of the World range.

It was lovely and my hands and arms felt SO smooth afterwards even into the next day they still felt amazing! I think my son thought I was mad when I saw him after and instantly said “feel how smooth my arm is” … as you can probably tell I don’t pamper myself near as much as I should so it was a complete novelty that I loved!

The Products

Our goody bag contained one of the new Face Mists –

Coconut Calming Face Mist (£6.00)

I’ve got to say I like this mist – it is very cooling and refreshing and it drys quickly not affecting your make up – it’s a very light spray (not one that feels wet after as I had imagined). I’m thinking I may need some more of these mists.

Also in the goody bag was the Almond Milk & Honey Shower cream (£5.00). I cannot comment on this product as I am unable to test it (that pesky almond milk again!) – I have donated this to my works charity raffle instead so it is going to a good cause and will let someone else enjoy it.

I purchased 2 of the recommendations from staff

o Strawberry Fresh Body Sorbet (£8.50)

I just love that sweet strawberry smell… It has always been one of my favourite scents from the Body Shop. The texture is ideal too – perfectly positioned in between runny and thick. You only need a small amount and it dries quickly.

o Hemp Hand Protector (£12.00 for the larger 100mls)

Now this one has a bit of a different smell, not typically one I would go for but it was recommended to me as I wanted a product which would be long lasting and would effectively smooth my dry hands. It is pretty amazing, I’ve used it every day since and it dries quickly and lasts pretty much all day. I’ve noticed a big difference in how my hands feel instantly. I’m glad I asked for a recommendation as this isn’t a product I would have picked myself – I am usually drawn to the fruity scents however this is so much more effective for me.

I also purchased a small strawberry bath bomb which I am yet to use.

After making my purchases I received a free gift which was a limited edition make up bag filled with 3 of the mini products – satsuma shower gel, olive shower gel and mango hand cream. All lovely products too and again they smell fabulous, especially the satsuma shower gel! The Body shop currently have a 3 for 2 offer on their mini range.

The Blogger event was great – filled with fizz, freebies, a hand massage and the best smelling beauty products around! I’d say that’s a good way to start a Friday evening!

I also got to meet a few other local bloggers too which was really nice. I hope to attend another event like this in the future and I will certainly be making another appearance at The Body Shop soon too… Rose Dewy Glow Face Mist, I am coming for you!

  1. Sounds like you had a great time at the event. I love Body Shop products, I definitely agree everything smells amazing in there. I love the new face mists, such a shame about your nut allergy though but at least you knew before applying it and receiving a reaction. Great post, thanks for sharing your experience.

  2. Such a lovely post! I’d love to go to a blogging event, but unfortunately there aren’t really any in Cornwall! Sounds like you had a great time though, and the body shop goodies look fab. I’d love to try the satsuma shower gel! Great post
